    New Jääportit album titled as Jääportit will be released by Epidemie Records as CD, limited edition of 300 copies in hand numbered 6 panels digipacks, at February 8th 2018.

    The 5th full-length Jääportit album celebrates this over 20 years long aural journey and the opportinity to still exist and be able to create and explore new sonic dimensions.

    Album contains 11 tracks of dark and frostbitten melancholic music embracing electronic and ambient guitar compositions, with mostly instrumental outfit, created solely by Tuomas in Northern Finland.

    Jääportit juhlistaa 20-vuotista taivaltaan julkaisemalla uuden levyn

    [UUTISIA SUOMEKSI /// NEWS IN FINNISH]

    Jääportit on musiikintekijä Tuomas M. Mäkelän vuonna 1997 perustama yhden miehen yhtye, joka juhlistaa yli 20-vuotista taivaltaan julkaisemalla uuden kokopitkän albumi nimeltään ”Jääportit”. Levyn julkaisee tšekkiläinen Epidemie Records -levy-yhtiö CD:nä sekä digitaalisesti torstaina 8.2.2018.

    Jääportit-albumi sisältää 11 kappaletta joiden taustalla soi synkkyydestä, melankoliasta, yksinäisyydestä ja kylmästä Pohjolan talvesta haettu inspiraatio. Musiikillinen ilmaisu on kasvanut yhtyeen alkuaikojen syna-ambientista moniuloitteisemmaksi yhdistelmäksi post-rockia ja hienovaraista pohjoismaista elektronista musiikkia. Tuomas luo Jääporttien musiikkia pääasiassa hyväksikäyttäen kitaraa, syntikoita, konetta ja kenttä-äänityksiä. Musiikin lisäksi Tuomas on suunnitellut myös levyn kannet ylläpitääkseen tee-se-itse-ja-yksin –henkeä alusta loppuun saakka.

    Jääportit on aiemmin julkaissut neljä kokopitkää albumia, joista viimeisin albumi (Voimasuo) julkaistiin toukokuussa vuonna 2009. Tuomas on työstänyt musiikkia eri artistien parissa sekä lisäksi tehnyt musiikkia pelien ja videoiden taustalle.

    New album coming out in the beginning of 2018

    Now, it’s official. News from Epidemie Records website:

    Finnish ambient project JÄÄPORTIT that celebrates its 20th anniversery is finishing a new album.

    Talentated Finnish composer Tuomas M. Mäkelä, who is hidden behind a mysterious name JÄÄPORTIT, brought his ambient project into being in 1997. His creation can be described as dreamlike and melancholic, evoking atmosphere of abandonned freezy Nordic landscape. Musical expression of the project moved from clearly ambient to much more colourful and absorbed elements of many assorted styles, especially of post rock and subtle Nordic electronics.

    In 2006 Epidemie Records released the third album of JÄÄPORTIT called Avarrus and in 2009 the fourth one, Voimasuo. The fifth regular album is going to be released in the beginning of 2018.
