Jääportit on soinut jo yli 20 vuotta, ja sen kunniaksi tulee uusi kokopitkä albumi. Jääportit ilmestyy torstaina 8.2.2018 tšekkiläisen Epidemie Recordsin julkaisemana CD:nä ja digitaalisena.
Albumilla on 11 kappaletta. Inspiraatio tulee pimeydestä, melankoliasta, yksinäisyydestä ja pohjoisen kylmästä talvesta. Äänimaailma on kasvanut alkuvuosien syntikka-ambientista laajemmaksi: mukana on post-rockia ja hienovaraista pohjoismaista elektronista musiikkia. Perustaja T. M. Mäkelä soittaa levyllä kitaraa ja syntikoita, ohjelmoi koneet ja käyttää kenttä-äänityksiä. Kansitaiteen hän suunnitteli itse.
Albumi on yhtyeen viides kokopitkä. Edellinen, Voimasuo, ilmestyi toukokuussa 2009. Sen jälkeen Mäkelä on tehnyt musiikkia muiden artistien kanssa sekä peleihin ja videoihin.

Jääportit has been going for over 20 years, and a new full-length album marks the occasion. Jääportit is out on Thursday 8 February 2018 on CD and digital through the Czech label Epidemie Records.
The album has 11 tracks, drawn from darkness, melancholy, solitude and the cold northern winter. The sound has grown from the synth ambient of the early years into something wider, with post-rock and subtle Nordic electronic music woven in. Founder T. M. Mäkelä plays guitars and synthesizers, programs the machines and uses field recordings, and he designed the cover art himself.
It is the fifth full-length album. The previous one, Voimasuo, came out in May 2009. Since then Mäkelä has worked on music with other artists and written music for games and videos.
