This barely has nothing to do with Jääportit but we thought that it might be interesting for some. Tuomas M. Mäkelä has created some music for a soundtrack of Finnish made game called Cities in Motion. Cities in Motion (CIM) is a city-based mass transportation simulator for the PC. Players operate their own transportation company, building a public network with a variety of vehicle types, including buses, trams, and subway trains.
Tuomas M. Mäkelä has finished working as sound designer and the original film music composer for a short film called Ihmisiä tiellä (Hit The Road). Films running time is 40 minutes and it took almost a year of hard work to finish the work with the film soundtrack.
Ihmisiä tiellä (Hit the Road) is a film about groups and not belonging to groups. The drama takes place in an efficient, faceless school environment, where three members of the school staff are feeling uncomfortable in the brutal embrace of this uncommunity. They don’t feel like they belong. Directed by Arttu Haglund, the film features Panu Tuomikko (Against the Dark), Tommi Korpela (A Man’s Job) and Harry Viita (The Rose of the Rascal) in its leading roles.
The film music and sound design was the final thesis work by Tuomas M. Mäkelä to TAMK University of Applied Sciences, School of Art and Media.
Tuomas of Jääportit has taken part to a Finnish obscure metal band Umbra Nihil’s next album The Borderland Rituals, by creating synthesized astral-chaos to their track called The Sign of Death.
