After a short perioid in silence, our website was updated with the latest technologic electronic organisms and from now on all of those small sprockets under the hood runs faster within the hypnotic hyperspace drivethru. Enjoy.

Lovecraftian tribute-album

Finally some great news about long-waited compilation album paying tribute to the writer H. P. Lovecraft. It will be released after all by I, Voidhanger Records – obscure metal underground record label. Album begins with a dark ambient piece created by Jääportit that lasts about 25 minutes. Our track, titled as Kuihtuman henkivi, was actually finished back in 2006, so obviously it sounds quite different than our latest release. What a deep and dark journey to abyss it still is.

“Graphic and layout for a secretly assembled tribute-album that will inaugurate a series of thematic releases on I, Voidhanger Records are almost complete.

78 minutes in length, the album will contain 4 exclusive tracks by the avant-garde/progressive doom masters AARNI and UMBRA NIHIL, the cosmic-ambient psychonauts JÄÄPORTIT, and the blackened space-doom project CAPUT LVIIIm (featuring members of necro-doomsters Malasangre, black-ambient visionaries Tronus Abyss, and avant-garde metallers Necroart).

Tentatively scheduled for a September release, the tribute will be out as a jewel case CD housed in a slipcase, with a 20-page full-colour booklet with lyrics and liner notes.

Fan Video of Transforming Aegis

Our fan called Hartsword made a video of our song Muuntuva suoja (Transforming Aegis). He said that “the materials I have used were from BBC series of Planet Earth. I think that mountains covered by snow and wild nature really fits with your music, especially with your newest album. ‘Voimasuo’ belongs to my TOP 5 of this year.”

Jääportit participated on another compilation album Field Recordings Compilation Vol. I with a peaceful ambient track titled as “Autius”.

Album’s concept comes from the depths of Siberia. This various artists compilation features only field recordings including projects from Russia, Finland, Italy and other countries from around the globe. The cold sound of the wind from the frozen steppes right into your living room.

Album is a contribution of several peoples:
_Algol_ & Stuzha (idea, mixing, mastering, photos)
Tuomas M. Mäkelä from Jääportit (cover design and pictures)
Species Productions (printing, releasing and distributing)
Laurinda Demelo (photo artworks).

Album was released as 8-pages digibook CD-R by a Greece label Species Productions at July 2009.

Ihmisiä tiellä – short film

Tuomas M. Mäkelä has finished working as sound designer and the original film music composer for a short film called Ihmisiä tiellä (Hit The Road). Films running time is 40 minutes and it took almost a year of hard work to finish the work with the film soundtrack.

Ihmisiä tiellä (Hit the Road) is a film about groups and not belonging to groups. The drama takes place in an efficient, faceless school environment, where three members of the school staff are feeling uncomfortable in the brutal embrace of this uncommunity. They don’t feel like they belong. Directed by Arttu Haglund, the film features Panu Tuomikko (Against the Dark), Tommi Korpela (A Man’s Job) and Harry Viita (The Rose of the Rascal) in its leading roles.

The film music and sound design was the final thesis work by Tuomas M. Mäkelä to TAMK University of Applied Sciences, School of Art and Media.

The film will be shown on TAF 09 – Tampere Art Factory Festival during 15th and 16th of May, 2009.

JÄÄPORTIT – Voimasuo
Smashing new album of frosty Finnish project JÄÄPORTIT. Seven atmospheric compositions blending together dreamy ethereal ambient, cold rhythmical Nordic electronics and melancholic post-rock. The album is thematically dedicated to the world under transformation. Intense, strong, polymorphous and mostly instrumental album hardly fits in conventional categories, because it´s kind of a musical labyrinth, definitely worth of exploring. The album is coming out in nice six panels digipack in limited edition of 600 pieces.

THY CATAFALQUE – Róka hasa rádió
Hungarian THY CATAFALQUE was born in 1998 as epic black metal band. Since that time it has progressed to its actual, very original music that can be described as avant-garde post black metal / ambient / folk. Tamás Kátai and János Juhász, the forming couple of THY CATAFALQUE, invited nine other musicians (viola, cello, clarinet etc.) as guests and they recorded very unusual 70 minutes album called Róka hasa rádió. The whole album is in Hungarian, male vocal is completed with beautiful ethereal female voice of guest singer Ágnes Tóth (The Moon and the Nightspirit). Róka hasa rádió is coming out in nice eight panels digipack in limited edition of 600 pieces.

CLOSING THE ETERNITY – Noughtwards
After very successful album Nearby Being (2006, in cooperation with Ad Lux Tenebrae project), a new album of mysterious project from Russian Ural is being released. 74 minutes long composition called Noughtwards is full of dark harmonic drones and subtle pulsations, and is meant to multiply your inner self by zero and to take you off… noughtwards. The album is coming out in nice six panels digipack in limited edition of 600 pieces.
